THE LOCKTON SCULPTURE
Entry sculpture for the lobby stairwell of a new corporate headquarters
Denver, CO

The sculpture for the stairwell in Lockton’s new Denver headquarters is designed to reflect on the Company’s strengths and core values. As an abstract piece of visual art it is intended to make visible the essential character which has insured Lockton’s success. The sculpture embodies the Company’s core integrity, its dedication to its customers, and its commitment to responsive customer service.

The sculpture represents these values by being visually responsive to its situation. Bridging the stairwell space between the 6th and 7th floors, it is unified by a strong central core element. This 15 foot column is the primary axis from which the other art elements emerge. These include an ascending "stairs", a radiating "fan", and a curvilinear "grid". The "grid" may be suggestive of Lockton’s ability to provide flexible coverage with the changing needs of its customers. The "stairs" could describe a customer’s growth and development with the help of Lockton’s resources. And the "fan" is a protective and supportive element, describing Lockton’s commitment to essential supportive services.

The Lockton Sculpture provides another way of communicating, in the form of visual art, the character and values which have made this Company successful and strong.
